Electric Buses – An Overview
Another trading venture has been set up between Pakistan and China. It is good to hear that Daewoo and Skywell are going to introduce electric buses in Pakistan.
Daewoo is one of the top best bus manufacturing companies in Pakistan and a vast number of the population of Pakistan feel safe by travelling in Daewoo buses. After the completion of the project, Pakistan will become the first country to have electric buses in South Asia.
Agreement Between Pakistan and China
The Chinese company is going to invest $50m to launch electric buses in Pakistan. On 26th August 2020, the signing ceremony of the Strategic Alliance Agreement was held at Serena Hotel in Islamabad. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for science and technology, Mr Fawad Hussain Choudhary was the Chief Guest at the ceremony.

What is the Purpose of the Agreement?
The purpose of this agreement is to promote strategic partnerships such as setting up an electric vehicle value chain in Pakistan between Daewoo Pakistan Express bus services limited and Skywell Automobil, China.
This agreement has proven that Pakistan and China will continue their journey towards new ventures to improve the economy of both countries as they did previously i.e China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Chinese Ambassador said today is another important day of achievement between Pakistan and China. The government and the people of both countries are working together.

Fawad Chohdry said if we want to go ahead then it is necessary to develop a strong base in knowledge, science, and technology.
Thus, when I visited China, I met with 40 solar companies in a single day. We should move with intellect and do the planning for the maximum next ten years.
Explaining the agreement Fawad Choudhry said we can control pollution by launching the electric vehicles in Pakistan. He added:
“This will not only going to give a boost to our economy but will also generate massive employment and investment opportunities in the country”.
Contributiion of Sindh Government

Sindh Government has set aside Rs. 6.5 billion in its new budget for the financial year 2021-2022 for buying electric buses for Karachi.
