The worldwide UPENN (University of Pennsylvania) Global think tank ranking on May 27, 2021 ranks Pakistan Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI)  74 number has been given in the world, among the best government-affiliated think tanks. In Pakistan, it acquires the first rank.

A think tank is a research platform that is made for the purpose to share ideas and discuss a variety of different topics. It provides authenticated solutions to problems related to political policies, social policies, military, economics, environment, security, culture, science, and technology, and many more. Think tank researcher influence on public opinions and public policy.

It was founded in 1999 and is part of the Pakistani government’s National Security Division (NSD).

In the previous 9 months, Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) has been taken its own institutional reforms base on its 3D approach that is:

  • Datafication
  • Digitalization
  • Disruption

Recent reforms have been undertaken by the Islamabad policy research institute (IPRI) under the leadership of Dr. Moeed Yusuf, Pakistan’s national security advisor. It is clear that IPRI’s reforms have been successful, as it’s have evidenced by the international rankings.

With the reforms, IPRI aimed:

to provide rigorous, policy-relevant research input

to provide a platform for serious dialogue, and

to follow a strict strategizing approach. Integrating technology and data analytics into the policy realm required innovation.

Several new policies and research products were launched under the reforms by the Islamabad policy research institute (IPRI) while its global strategic communications were enhanced. As a result of the reforms, The IPRI is now widely recognized as one of Pakistan’s leading think tanks and internationally recognized and leading in the field of national security and foreign policy.

One of the earliest non-partisan think tanks on all facets of national security, the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) focuses on international relations, strategic studies, governance, strategic studies, & public policy, and law & economy in Pakistan.

In addition to providing contemporary, up-to-date, and high-quality research, IPRI’s publications include high-quality journals, monographs, books, and policy briefs acclaimed for their objectivity and policy relevance.

Seminars and conferences organized by the Institute range from seminars on current international policy issues to large-scale international conferences that attract renowned leaders, policymakers and academics, from all over the world.

Concerning the requirement of the current age, Digitalization is the demand of every sector. Pakistan also making efforts to improve digitalization and thus Digital Pakistan inauguration ceremony was held in 2019 by prime minister Imran Khan.

Islamabad Policy Research Institute with German Government

Recent efforts at the Islamabad policy research institute (IPRI) have reoriented its research culture with a view to aligning its publications with policy issues that the German government and policymakers are concerned with. Policymakers at the national level make regularly produced policy briefs with well-researched policy recommendations.

New Research Center in Lahore, Pakistan

On 29th May 2021, the Sufism research center is launched in Lahore. This research Center promotes knowledge about Sufism, science, and technology. This Research Library is inaugurated by the first lady Bushra Bibi who puts her efforts into taking this initiative.

Prior to this center, there is Sheikh Abul Hassan Shazli Center established in Lahore to carry out research on Islam and modern sciences. There are many other research institutes in Pakistan that are useful to researchers.
