Baloch culture day is celebrated every 2nd of march that is announced by the Cultural and Tourism Department. On this day Balochi people wear their traditional dresses, cook their traditional foods and do traditional dances and many more. The people of Balochistan celebrate this day not only to remember their culture, traditions, norms, and values but also to give tribute to their culture.
They also celebrate Baloch Culture Day to showcase the existence of their culture to the whole of Pakistan and the world.

History Of Balochistan – An Overview
The history of Balochistan covers thousand of years from the First Century with Iran and Afghanistan. Before the partition of the subcontinent, Balochistan was an independent state. Mir Ahmed Khan, who was the king of Balochistan and decided to affiliate with the Government of Pakistan.
Introduction
The name Balochistan means the “Land of the Baloch” in many regional languages.
Balochistan is one of the four provinces of Pakistan. Balochistan is situated in the southeast of Pakistan and covers an area of 347,190 sq km. It is the largest province by area, 44% of Pakistan’s total Land Mass. Smallest in terms of Population.6.5 million Population of Balochistan.
Balochistan Border
Balochistan is bordered by Afghanistan to the north and northwest, Iran to the southwest the Arabian sea to the south, Punjab, and Sindh to the east. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas to the northeast.
Capital Of Balochistan
Quetta is the capital of Balochistan province. Quetta derives its name from the Balochi “Kuwatta”, which means a Fort. The boundaries of Iran and Afghanistan meet here, and the Baloch Pass lies on important lines of communication. The earliest mention of Quetta in history is around the 11th century when it was captured by Mahmood Ghaznawi.

Traditions of Balochistan
A number of tributes constitute to make people of Balochistan. Their major tributes are Balochistan (Baloch Pashtoon and Brahvi) and Pakistan.
- Each tribute is further divided into various branches.
- The tribute is called Sardar while, the head of sub tribute is known as Malik, Takari or Mir Sardar, Sardars and Maliks are members of the district and other local Jirgas according to their status.
Another adorable feature of Balochistan culture is faithfulness and sincerity in all relationships. There is no place or respect for unfaithful people in a prevalent moral order. Better off people even slaughter sheep or goat for their guest.
Sometimes, it so happened that where there are more houses, the guest is assumed to be the guest of the whole village.

Traditional Music
Balochi folk violin and drums are played.
- Soroz, flute, surando and tambooro are the main musical instruments.
“Prince of Balochi Music” is the title of a Balochi artist named Rustam Mir Lashari that is most famous among the artists of Balochistan.
Traditional Dance
- Dochaap is an ancient Persian and main cultural dance, in which men\women performed by forming a circle by ba group of people, dancing and clapping. Do-Chapi almost always includes Surna and Dohol.
- Lawa is also a Balochi dance of Sheedi origin, performed by a group of people in a circle with hand movements. Lawa almost always includes a Surna and Dohol.

Traditional Dresses of Women
The dresses of women consist of the traditional shirt that is having a big pocket in front of it. Most of the shirts mostly have embroidery work with embedded some small round shape mirrors piece. Big ‘ Dupatta’ or ‘ Chadder’ are used to cover the head.
Traditional Dresses OF Men
Turban is the common headwear of Baloch men along with wide loose shalwar along with knee- long shirts.
